Cooperative of American Physicians Appoints Margaret Martin Vice President, Risk Management and Patient Safety
The Healthcare Risk Management Executive brings 25 years of industry expertise with combined nursing and legal training to help CPA member physicians reduce risk in their medical practices
LOS ANGELES, Aug 09, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP) today announced the appointment of Margaret A. Martin, RN, JD as the new Vice President, Risk Management and patient safety. Ms. Martin will be responsible for leading CAP’s risk management and patient safety team and providing risk management and patient safety training and services to the 12,000 CAP physicians and their practices. , as well as to medical groups, hospitals and establishments served by CAPAssurance, a Risky Purchasing Group, covering 3,000 additional doctors.
Ms. Martin brings with her extensive experience in hospital administration, consulting, claims, insurance and litigation in a variety of contexts, as well as a demonstrated expertise in assessing clients’ risk exposure and providing advice on mitigation strategies while promoting optimal patient outcomes.
She most recently served as the Director of Quality Services for AHMC Anaheim Regional Medical Center, where she managed performance improvement, risk management, patient safety, and regulatory and accreditation functions for this. 223 bed acute care community hospital.

Prior to joining the AHMC Anaheim Regional, Ms. Martin held senior risk management positions at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois and at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Earlier in her career, Ms. Martin provided risk and claims management consulting services to the Illinois Health and Hospitals Association, ran a solo law firm, and worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph of Chicago.
