Jaime Munguia wants Canelo Alvarez, Golovkin & Charlo – Boxing News
Jaime Munguia (37-0, 30 KOs) says he wants to fight Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin soon. Former WBO junior middleweight champion Munguia wants to challenge Golovkin (41-1, 36 KOs) after two more fights against Gabe Rosado (26-13-1, 15 KOs) and Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
As for Canelo, Munguia, 25, plans to wait until he drops to 168, which will happen soon if he wants to get to the Mexican star before hanging up his gloves or maybe moving up to 175.
This Saturday, November 13, Munguia will headlining against Rosado in a 12-round bout on DAZN at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
This is the most important fight in Munguia’s eight-year professional career as he faces off against a quality Rosado veteran, 35, who comes off a stunning third round knockout victory over Bektemir Melikuziev on June 19. in a fight streamed by DAZN. been to El Paso, Texas.
Canelo, 31, would be a huge salary for Munguia if he faced him without being knocked out in advance by Rosado, Derevyanchenko or Golovkin.
Considering Munguia’s appearance lately, it’s a tall order for him to beat Golovkin, even at this late stage in his career. Golovkin will be 40 in April, but he looks great and fights at a more advanced level than Munguia.
“This is something that I am considering in the future,” Munguia told DAZN News. âBut right now I’m 160. Canelo is in a heavier weight class.
âOnce I feel good about my weight, my body and move on to that weight class, then of course I would like to do this fight,â Munguia said of the Canelo fight in the future. .
âYeah, that would be a really good fight,â Munguia said of himself battling Canelo. “I’m actually excited to think about it.”
If Canelo is to do Munguia a favor, he will offer to give him a chance to win his four 168 titles without having to go through Derevyanchenko and Golovkin first.
Canelo is running out of opposition to beat at 168, and life is about to get tough for him in that weight class because boxing fans are fed up with him avoiding David Benavidez and David Morrell Jr.
They want to see Canelo fight the best opposition at 168 instead of chilling out against Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders, Rocky Fielding and Callum Smith. Munguia would give Canelo the excuse to take another sweet fight before fans insist he fight Benavidez, Morrell Jr., Artur Beterbiev, Dimitry Bivol and Joe Smith Jr.
âAfter Rosado, I would like to face Derevyanchenko and then after Derevyanchenko I would love a fight against Triple G or Charlo,“Munguia said.
Munguia is unlikely to beat Golovkin or Charlo, but he would have an excellent chance of defeating Derevyanchenko. It took a lot of punishment in his recent fights against GGG and Charlo.
