Maybe guess again, Lisa Bloom

The casting couch, the “who you know (biblically), who you don’t know”, or even the “who should I fuck!” The concept has, as part of the progression, unfortunately existed forever. The idea that lawyers play on both sides of the court is more recent.

Hence Lisa Bloom.

The daughter of famed lawyer Gloria Allred, and former legal adviser to Harvey WeinsteinBloom is now being sued – à la Michael Avenati RE:Nike – for extortion.

The lawsuit against Bloom, filed by Los Angeles attorneys Gary Jay Kaufman and Shawn Holley, says the former ‘wife’s attorney’ non-consensually, specifically, repeatedly and intentionally inserted the word ‘rape’ in his own client’s complaint.

The basic story is this – the co-founder/owner of Guess? Jeans, Paul Marciano had sex with a model, or even several models. Bloom’s firm claims to have information about the problematic behavior of many models and other women, but as far as at least one potential complainant, referred to as “SS,” may have overstated the accusation.

In a lawsuit filed on behalf of Marciano, Bloom was found to have specifically and explicitly misrepresented “SS” claims in order to receive immediate payment from Marciano.

Section 62 of the claim states: “Days later, on May 27, 2021, under the guise of settlement negotiations, defendant Lisa Bloom emailed Guess’ attorney and made a ‘final’ request. “. In the email, defendant Bloom demanded that plaintiff and Guess pay $235,000. Accompanying this disturbing final demand, for the first time, was a draft complaint.

And it was in this draft complaint that, according to the plaintiffs, the word “rape” was used for the first time.

Attorney Kaufmann acknowledges a consensual relationship between Marciano and “SS” – whom he does not represent – but says the basis of the lawsuit is not really about sex, but about extortion.

Despite alleged denials by “SS,” Bloom claimed she was being “raped,” according to the lawsuit, in order to get a bigger payday for Bloom’s company.

Below are direct statements from Lisa Bloom, the plaintiff, and a link to the actual file.

Statement from Lisa Bloom:

More than twenty women accused Paul Marciano of sexual harassment and sexual assault (most of which I did not represent), according to Guess’ own records. Guess has backed him for decades despite so many women’s calls for justice and a recent shareholder uprising. His tough tactics aren’t working on me.

I’m finally taking Paul Marciano’s deposition next week. He becomes desperate. He loses the case and he knows it. (As for this former client, we have numerous confidential emails from her detailing her horrific story of what Paul Marciano did to her, which is why she hired us, to seek justice against him over his sexual misconduct allegations .We get customer approval on everything we send.)

I will not be distracted. This laughable and baseless case will be dismissed sooner.

Mr. Marciano, I look forward to your appearance in my office next week where you will, for the first time, be required to answer questions under oath regarding my client’s sexual assault allegations against you. I’m ready. Are you?

The plaintiff’s press release:

Guess co-founder Paul Marciano has filed a lawsuit against attorney Lisa Bloom and her law firm, The Bloom Firm, for extortion. The complaint details Bloom’s longstanding practice of tortious, deceptive and otherwise improper conduct.

The filing alleges that Bloom threatened to take legal action against Paul Marciano that knowingly and blatantly contained false allegations of bad faith for the improper purpose of extorting money. In fact, the complaint alleges that Bloom never had the intention – or the authority – to file the threatened lawsuit.

The complaint meticulously details a series of brazen actions orchestrated by Bloom to concoct allegations and extort money from Paul Marciano, including attempts to cover up the shakedown scheme. The plot finally came to a head when a former whistleblower client of Bloom’s revealed that she had specifically disavowed a rape allegation Bloom had made against Marciano and told Bloom to withdraw that allegation from a proposed lawsuit that Bloom had used to threaten Mr. Marciano. The complaint further alleges that Bloom never took it down.

Bloom’s former client revealed in an affidavit that the Bloom Firm continually manipulated, harassed and bullied her into trying to get her to say what the Bloom Firm wanted her to say to sensationalize a lawsuit threatens. These Bloom firm tactics included fabricating allegations of rape and false imprisonment

This lawsuit, alleging one count of civil extortion, will seek both to repair the damage done to Mr. Marciano and to expose Bloom’s business practice of extorting money under threat of harming his public reputation. .

The complaint is below or you can Click here. The Los Angeles Superior Court case number is 22STCV14474.
