Sandra Bullock has been acting for decades and is at the age where many women are losing roles to younger actresses, slipping from the A-list. She claimed in a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “If it hadn’t been for Netflix, a lot of people wouldn’t be working… I would have been out grazing cows. Long before winning an Oscar for the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy in “The Blind Side,” Bullock had her breakout performance as Annie Porter in the 1994 film “Speed“, co-starring Keanu Reeves. When brave LA resident Annie Porter loses her driver’s license after repeated speeding, fate puts her on a bus fitted with a bomb by a deranged explosives expert. and resentful, played by Dennis Hopper.

In the film, the bomb will explode if the bus travels less than 80 km/h. Los Angeles Police Officer Jack Traven (Reeves) and his partner, Harry, played by Jeff Daniels, attempt to get everyone off the bus while Annie speeds through Los Angeles after the driver is injured. This role marked a turning point in Bullock’s career, allowing audiences to appreciate his spunky humor and charm. Reeves and Bullock had great chemistry, setting her up for a string of well-received rom-coms and eventually awards, accolades and the A-list.
